Import Your Flights

Finally!
You can now import flights from other logbook software into Jetrecord. A great big thank you goes out to Daniel “daniel” Roman, Bill “BillG” Gargano, and Chris “captainslim” Johnson for loaning me their data so I could test.
Currently, LogTen Pro, Aloft Flight Log 4, Logshare, ZuluLog, and plain CSV are supported. I will gladly add [...]

Log Instrument Approaches

A huge thanks goes out to Eric “egid” Gideon for suggesting this feature and helping me out with the implementation.
You can now log detailed instrument approaches with each flight on Jetrecord. You can log the total number of approaches, the name of the approach, the approach type (GPS, ILS, VOR, etc.), and the number of [...]

Twitter Updates

Hi, Everyone! Jetrecord is having a much better day today, stability wise.
I just wanted to give you an update on Jetrecord’s use of Twitter. If you’re currently a Twitter user you know that Twitter has had quite a few stability problems over the last few weeks. Things are looking up for them, thank goodness, and [...]

Major Downtime Today

We’re back up. Sorry for the long delay. It’s amazing what one line of code can do.
Earlier today I removed an administrative feature from the site that logs any site errors to the database. Oh, the irony. I had switched in some newer code that actually sends me an email whenever there are any problems. [...]

The data center that hosts Jetrecord is undergoing maintenance on Monday, June 16, from 11pm to 12am Pacific Daylight Savings Time (0600 to 0700 Zulu). Jetrecord will be unavailable during this time.
Cheers,
Harry

Jetrecord One Month Old Today!

Hey, Everyone!
Today marks Jetrecord’s first month of existence and we’re looking good, even on Friday the 13th! To celebrate, I’d like to call out a few examples of the ways you all are using Jetrecord.
1. If you haven’t been following Chris “captainslim” Johnson’s flights, you ought to. It’s a real eye opener on the demands [...]

Static Google Maps for Blackberry

Given the Blackberry’s spotty support for JavaScript, much less Ajax et al, I’ve implemented static Google maps when JavaScript is disabled, which is what I’ve done with my Blackberry. You can disable JavaScript by going to the browser options in your BlackBerry’s web browser.
I’m starting with the airports, navaids,  and fixes. I’ll add them to [...]

Add Flickr Photos to Your Flights and Aircraft

Jetrecord now integrates with Flickr, Yahoo!’s excellent photo sharing site. That means you can add photos to the flights you log on Jetrecord, to the aircraft you fly, to the airports you visit, to the routes you take, and on and on and on. And all photos link back to your photo pages on Flickr!
Add [...]

48,000 Named Fixes

Hi!
We have 48,000+ named fixes in the database now: http://jetrecord.com/fixes. If your flight route includes a named fix in the middle of the route, Jetrecord will find it and add it to your route.
See, for example: http://jetrecord.com/routes/KFUL+JLI+KUMBA+IPL+BZA+KYUM
And here’s another: http://jetrecord.com/routes/KHQM+HQM+CARRO+PAE+KAWO+KPAE
The default behavior is the same as for navaids:
1. If there are only 1 or 2 [...]
